Children’s authors

There has been a huge revival in the interest in children’s books and children’s authors over the last few years, thanks mainly to the tremendous popularity of the Harry Potter series of books. However, the genre has been around for hundreds of years. Early classics written by authors for children include books like Aesop’s fables.

Authors who write for children need to be remarkably talented. They need to know how to tell a good story and tell it simply and well. It’s not surprising that many of the top-selling children’s authors also make it to the list of top-selling authors of all time. In fact some works that were originally written by authors for children are today considered classics and loved and read by all. Some of these include The Lord of the Rings, The Catcher in The Rye and The Little Prince.

The best-selling children’s authors include favorites like Dr. Seuss, Beatrix Potter, Enid Blyton and Lewis Carroll. These authors have produced numerous best-sellers over many years and their works have been translated into many languages making these authors beloved across the world. The creations of these authors such as Peter Rabbit, Alice and Noddy have also made their transition to the world of television and movies. The newest additions to this illustrious list of children’s authors include JK Rowling and Eoin Colfer.

Some of the best-loved authors of children’s books are equally loved by adults as well. Many of us have grown up reading and loving books by authors such as Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton and A.A. Milne and reading books by the same authors now transports us back to our childhood. Other children’s authors like JK Rowling and Philip Pullman are new to the scene but their remarkable characters and story-telling abilities make them instant favorites regardless of the age of the audience.
