Bad E-books

Like everything on the internet, and most everything that is for sale, the world of e-book sales has its crooks and swindlers who try to sell you e-books that are not what they appear to be in their advertisements.

You can usually tell a site that is going to be less than legitimate by its flashy color scheme, poorly designed webpage, and a webpage ad that is written like it’s an infomercial full of quotes and testimonials from other e-book readers just like you who have purchased the book and loved it. In many cases these books are more expensive than any book you would ever purchase in a store, and will come with special bonuses and gimmicks to encourage you to make your purchase RIGHT NOW.

In most cases a well written quality e-book will be available for your purchase at the same price you could purchase the book in the bookstore, if it is not in fact less expensive. You shouldn’t be paying more for an e-version on anything. Most e-books should also be the same price no matter whether or not you are the first customer or the last. Some companies will claim to offer special deals to the first 50 buyers, or for those who make their purchase within the next few minutes.

Don’t be fooled into making a quick decision on your purchase, and purchasing a book that is not what you truly want. E-books that offer money back guarantees and the like, usually offer a refund, because you will want one.

Some e-books will use huge fonts and large graphics to boost their page count, and will offer you the reader very little actual information, and what information you do receive from the book you could have easily found for yourself on the internet.

Be an educated buyer. Only purchase e-books from quality reputable sites that you trust. If the e-book you are interested in purchasing is only available from one site, then there is probably a good reason no one else will sell it and you should look for another similar title elsewhere.
